As a Shop System-Plugin PHP Engineer (m/f/x) at payever, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality plugins and integrations for various shop systems. Your work will focus on enabling seamless integration between payever services and external e-commerce platforms, enhancing the e-commerce experience for both merchants and customers.
In this role, you will leverage your expertise in PHP development to design and create robust and efficient solutions that optimize e-commerce operations. You will work with popular shop systems, such as Magento, Shopware, DanDomain, JTL, OXID, Prestashop, xt:Commerce, Plentymarkets, WooCommerce, or Shopify, to develop plugins that extend their capabilities and provide custom features and functionality.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring the compatibility, stability, and security of the plugins across different versions of shop systems. You will also be involved in API integration, integrating payever services like Checkout into shop systems through well-designed and scalable API integrations.
As a Shop System-Plugin PHP Engineer (m/f/x), you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver high-quality solutions. You will have the opportunity to participate in code reviews, offer constructive feedback, and promote coding best practices within the team.

In this role, your day will look something like this
Plugin Development
• Design, develop, and maintain plugins for popular shop systems, such as Magento, Shopware, DanDomain, JTL, OXID, Prestashop, xt:Commerce, Plentymarkets, WooCommerce, or Shopify.
• Implement custom features, functionality, and integrations that enhance the capabilities of shop systems and optimize e-commerce operations.
• Ensure compatibility, stability, and security of the plugins across different versions of shop systems.
API Integration
• Develop robust and scalable solutions that enable seamless data exchange and communication between shop systems and payever services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align API integrations with business requirements and technical standards.
Performance Optimization
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize plugin code and database queries to improve the speed and efficiency of the shop systems.
• Conduct performance testing and monitoring to ensure smooth and reliable operation of the plugins in high-traffic environments.
Quality Assurance
• Write unit tests and conduct thorough testing to ensure the reliability, functionality, and compatibility of the plugins across different shop systems.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to identify and resolve issues, ensuring a high-quality end product.
Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, offer constructive feedback, and promote coding best practices within the team.
• Communicate effectively, share ideas, and contribute to a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Who you are
• Minimum 3 years of experience software development with PHP
• Degree in computer science, computer engineering or a similar field
• Experience with e-commerce systems e.g. Magento, Shopware, WooCommerce, PrestaShop
• Proven experience of plugin creation
• Experience with REST API
• Familiarity with git version control system
• Linux system familiarity
• ANY auto-testing tools experience (PhpUnit or event Postman) will be a great plus
• Desire to be a part of an international team
